Finding Your Footing After Trauma in Massachusetts

Trauma Concerns We Commonly Support

Trauma can come from a single event or years of chronic stress. Many adults come to us for help with:

  • PTSD symptoms (triggers, flashbacks, nightmares)
  • Anxiety, panic, or persistent worry
  • Emotional shutdown, numbness, or dissociation
  • Sleep disruption and irritability
  • Depression and low mood
  • Grief and major life changes
  • Postpartum emotional overwhelm (when relevant to trauma and safety)

Not sure if what you’ve been through “counts”? You’re still welcome here.

How We Help You Recover From Trauma

Our process is designed to feel clear and supportive, especially when life already feels heavy.

  • We begin by listening (really listening) to what’s been happening
  • We map your symptoms, stressors, and goals
  • We build a plan that feels realistic, then adjust it as you gain stability
  • We support you with structured therapy, practical tools, and consistent clinical guidance

You don’t have to have the “right words.” You don’t have to explain it perfectly. You just have to start.

Levels of Care at Grand Rising Behavioral Health

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

🗓 5 days a week🕒 approx 5 hours a day

Our most structured outpatient level of care. PHP blends group therapy, individual sessions, and psychiatric services into a full daily schedule — built for adults who need the daily rhythm to stabilize after a hospitalization, during a behavioral health crisis, or when session-based therapy hasn't held.

Program components

  • Group and individual therapy woven into every day
  • Psychiatric services delivered inside the program
  • CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care
  • In-person at our Norwood location or via telehealth

Outpatient Program (OP)

🗓 1 day a week🕒 approx 1–3 hours a day

A short-term step-down phase after a structured program — focused on reinforcing the skills you built and handing off to your long-term community provider. It isn't an entry point and it isn't ongoing therapy. Admission to our programming goes through PHP or IOP first.

Program components

  • Short, time-limited transition phase
  • Reinforces coping and regulation skills
  • Supports handoff to a community outpatient provider
  • Available to clients who've completed a structured program with us

Evidence-Based Treatments We Use

Trauma-Focused Therapies

Our clinicians use evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches and build your plan around your symptoms, goals, and pace. Where clinically indicated, treatment may draw on:

  • CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy)
  • DBT (dialectical behavior therapy)
  • EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing)

Individual & Group Therapy

Care combines one-on-one work with the encouragement of a supportive community. When group support is part of your plan, you’ll be in a space built for encouragement and respect, not judgment.

  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy

Flexible Outpatient Levels of Care

We offer flexible outpatient options designed to meet you where you are — whether you need more structure right now or ongoing support while you rebuild momentum. Our levels of care include:

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
  • Outpatient Program (OP)

Medication Support

When it’s appropriate for your care, medication support is available and coordinated as part of your overall plan. Our team can help you understand your options so treatment fits your symptoms, goals, and pace.

What to Expect: From Admissions to First Session

Three simple steps from your first call to your first session — no referral needed.

1

Confidential Consult → Clinical Assessment → Personalized Plan

Call our 24/7 admissions line or send a message. We'll ask about symptoms, safety needs, and your goals, then schedule a comprehensive assessment. Your clinician will recommend the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) & Outpatient Program (OP) based on functioning, risk, and availability, and will explain why.

2

Insurance Verification & Cost Transparency

Grand Rising Behavioral Health is out-of-network for insurance. Many clients with PPO plans use out-of-network benefits; others choose private pay. Our team will verify benefits, estimate costs and deductible implications, and provide documentation to help with reimbursement.

Telehealth Options for Massachusetts Residents

When clinically appropriate, secure telehealth sessions are available to Massachusetts residents. We'll confirm eligibility, technology needs, and whether your specific program (e.g., the Intensive Outpatient Program) can be offered virtually or in a hybrid format.

How We Measure Progress (Without Overpromising)

Goals you set with your clinician

We prioritize the parts of life trauma has disrupted — feeling safe in your body, trusting people again, getting through the day without being pulled back — and set goals you can feel.

Symptom and Functioning Check-Ins

Short check-ins track changes in distress, sleep, avoidance, and daily functioning. Data isn't the whole story; your lived experience guides how we pace and adjust care.

Your Relapse-Prevention Plan

Before discharge or step-down, you'll leave with a written plan: grounding and regulation skills, your early-warning signs, and what to do if symptoms resurface. We can coordinate with outpatient providers to keep care connected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Treat PTSD And Trauma-Related Symptoms?+

Yes. We support adults experiencing trauma-related distress, including PTSD symptoms such as triggers, intrusive memories, nightmares, hypervigilance, panic, emotional numbness, and feeling constantly “on edge.” We start by listening to what you’re dealing with and tailor care to your needs and goals.

What If I’m Not Sure What I’m Experiencing Is “Trauma”?+

You don’t have to label it perfectly to get help. If something continues to affect your sleep, mood, relationships, focus, or sense of safety, it matters. We’ll help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, without pressure or judgment.

What Levels Of Care Do You Offer, And How Do I Know Which One I Need?+

We offer PHP, IOP, and Outpatient (OP) options. If you’re unsure which is right, that’s common. We’ll recommend a starting point based on your symptoms, schedule, and goals, and adjust your level of support as you stabilize and make progress.

Do You Accept Insurance?+

Grand Rising Behavioral Health is out-of-network with most plans. We offer private pay options and can assist clients with PPO / out-of-network benefits when available. Coverage varies by plan, but we’ll help you understand the process and what to expect financially before you commit, so the payment side feels clear and manageable.
