Levels of Care That Fit Your Week

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

🗓 5 days a week🕒 approx 5 hours a day

Our most structured outpatient level of care. PHP blends group therapy, individual sessions, and psychiatric services into a full daily schedule — built for adults who need the daily rhythm to stabilize after a hospitalization, during a behavioral health crisis, or when session-based therapy hasn't held.

Program components

  • Group and individual therapy woven into every day
  • Psychiatric services delivered inside the program
  • CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care
  • In-person at our Norwood location or via telehealth

Outpatient Program (OP)

🗓 1 day a week🕒 approx 1–3 hours a day

A short-term step-down phase after a structured program — focused on reinforcing the skills you built and handing off to your long-term community provider. It isn't an entry point and it isn't ongoing therapy. Admission to our programming goes through PHP or IOP first.

Program components

  • Short, time-limited transition phase
  • Reinforces coping and regulation skills
  • Supports handoff to a community outpatient provider
  • Available to clients who've completed a structured program with us

Evidence-Based Treatments We Use

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

As a behavioral health center offering trauma-focused care in Norwood, MA, Grand Rising provides EMDR, CBT, DBT skills, and medication support within Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) & Outpatient Program (OP) levels of care.

EMDR helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so they feel less charged and intrusive. Sessions are structured and paced, using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or tones). You’ll learn stabilizing skills first, then target specific memories or triggers with your therapist when you’re ready.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT for PTSD builds practical tools to reframe trauma-related thoughts and, gradually, safely face avoided situations.

Between-session homework helps these skills become habits in daily life.

DBT Skills

DBT skills — mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness — support steadier moods and reduce impulsive reactions.

We introduce them alongside your CBT and trauma work so you have practical tools to draw on day to day.

Medication Management

For some, short- or long-term medications can reduce PTSD-related anxiety, depression, or sleep problems. Our prescribers evaluate fit, explain risks/benefits in plain language, and coordinate closely with your therapist so medication supports, not replaces, therapy.

What to Expect: From Admissions to First Session

Three simple steps from your first call to your first session — no referral needed.

1

Confidential Consult → Clinical Assessment → Personalized Plan

Call our 24/7 admissions line or send a message. We'll ask about symptoms, safety needs, and your goals, then schedule a comprehensive assessment. Your clinician will recommend the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) & Outpatient Program (OP) based on functioning, risk, and availability, and will explain why.

2

Insurance Verification & Cost Transparency

Grand Rising Behavioral Health is out-of-network for insurance. Many clients with PPO plans use out-of-network benefits; others choose private pay. Our team will verify benefits, estimate costs and deductible implications, and provide documentation to help with reimbursement.

Telehealth Options for Massachusetts Residents

When clinically appropriate, secure telehealth sessions are available to Massachusetts residents. We'll confirm eligibility, technology needs, and whether your specific program (e.g., the Intensive Outpatient Program) can be offered virtually or in a hybrid format.

How We Measure Progress (Without Overpromising)

Goals you set with your clinician

We prioritize what trauma has taken from you — sleeping without nightmares, being in crowds, staying present with your family — and set goals you can feel week to week.

Symptom and Functioning Check-Ins

Short check-ins track changes in hypervigilance, nightmares, avoidance, and daily functioning. Data isn't the whole story; your lived experience guides every adjustment.

Your Relapse-Prevention Plan

Before discharge or step-down, you'll leave with a written plan: grounding skills, your early-warning signs, and what to do if symptoms resurface. We can coordinate with outpatient providers to keep care connected.

FAQs about PTSD Treatment Services in Massachusetts

What therapies are most effective for PTSD?+

Evidence-based options include EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and structured exposure approaches. We pair these with DBT-based skills for emotion regulation and mindfulness. Your plan is individualized after assessment.

What’s the difference between Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) & Outpatient Program (OP)?+

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a full-day, short-term program for stabilization and skill-building. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets several days per week for a few hours, ideal for step-down or when weekly therapy isn’t enough. The Outpatient Program (OP) is typically weekly and focuses on maintaining gains.

Can I do PTSD treatment via telehealth if I live in Massachusetts?+

Yes, eligible MA residents can participate via secure video for groups and individual sessions. We’ll confirm technology and privacy needs during your intake.

How does out-of-network insurance work?+

If you have out-of-network benefits (such as a PPO plan), your insurance plan may provide reimbursement for services. Grand Rising Behavioral Health verifies your benefits and submits claims on your behalf. Reimbursement, if approved, is paid directly to Grand Rising Behavioral Health. Depending on your insurance benefits, you may be responsible for certain out-of-pocket costs, such as deductibles or coinsurance. Our team will help you understand your expected estimated costs before services begin.

How soon will I start to feel better?+

Timelines vary. Many patients notice early changes such as improved sleep or reduced anxiety as skills and routines take hold. Your treatment plan is individualized, and different therapeutic approaches may be incorporated over time based on your needs and progress.

What if I also have anxiety or depression?+

We screen for co-occurring conditions, treat what’s appropriate in our setting, and coordinate referrals if you need specialized or higher-level care.
