Anxiety Treatment & Programs in Massachusetts

You don’t have to manage anxiety alone. If worry, panic, or constant “what-ifs” get in the way of work, school, or relationships, structured care helps you regain steadiness. At Grand Rising Behavioral Health, our Massachusetts-based programs offer a full outpatient continuum, Day Treatment • Structured Outpatient Program • Standard Outpatient, built on evidence-based therapies, a compassionate clinical team, and a straightforward admissions process.

Signs You Might Benefit from Structured
Anxiety Care

Common Symptoms We Treat

Persistent, hard-to-control worry (often with muscle tension, restlessness, or poor sleep)

Panic attacks or fear of future attacks; avoidance of places where panic occurred

Social anxiety, intense fear of judgment in conversations, meetings, or presentations

Specific phobias (driving, heights, flying, medical procedures, animals)

Health/illness anxiety and frequent reassurance-seeking

Anxiety that co-occurs with trauma or OCD-like rituals/compulsions

When Weekly Therapy Isn’t Enough

If anxiety is causing missed classes or shifts, repeated urgent care visits, growing avoidance (leaving early or canceling plans), or you feel “stuck” despite outpatient therapy, a higher level of care provides the daily structure and skills practice needed to make meaningful progress.

Our Levels of  Care for Anxiety

Day Treatment Program

5 days a week
approx 5 hours a day

Our most structured outpatient level of care. Day Treatment blends group therapy, individual sessions, and psychiatric services into a full daily schedule — built for adults who need the daily rhythm to stabilize after a hospitalization, during a behavioral health crisis, or when session-based therapy hasn't held.

Program components

Group and individual therapy woven into every day

Psychiatric services delivered inside the program

CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care

In-person at our Norwood campus or via telehealth

Structured Outpatient Program

3–5 days a week
approx 3 hours a day

Programming designed for adults transitioning toward greater independence while still needing consistent clinical support. This is where most of our clients spend the longest stretch of treatment — stepping down from Day Treatment or stepping up from session-based therapy that isn't enough on its own.

Program components

Group and individual work at a lower daily intensity

Same psychiatric services and modalities as Day Treatment

Designed to fit alongside part-time work or phased return

In-person or via telehealth

Standard Outpatient

1 day a week
approx 1–3 hours a day

A short-term step-down phase after a structured program — focused on reinforcing the skills you built and handing off to your long-term community provider. It isn't an entry point and it isn't ongoing therapy. Admission to our programming goes through Day Treatment or Structured Outpatient first.

Program components

Short, time-limited transition phase

Reinforces coping and regulation skills

Supports handoff to a community outpatient provider

Available to clients who've completed a structured program with us

Evidence-Based Treatments We Use

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Exposure/ERP

CBT helps you notice and reframe anxious thinking, and practice new behaviors that reduce avoidance. For panic and phobias, exposure with response prevention (ERP) uses stepwise challenges, designed with your clinician, to rebuild confidence and teach your nervous system that these situations are tolerable.

DBT Skills for Emotion Regulation

Many people experience anxiety alongside intense emotional surges. DBT skills offer practical tools, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, to ride out spikes and make values-aligned choices even when fear spikes.

Medication Management (as appropriate)

Some clients benefit from medication alongside therapy. Our prescribers evaluate options, discuss risks and benefits, and coordinate closely with your therapist so medication supports your goals instead of replacing skills work.

Group Therapy & Psychoeducation

Small groups create a structured place to practice skills, compare strategies that work in daily life, and learn how sleep, nutrition, and movement interact with anxiety. Family or partner involvement may be included when it supports the plan.

What to Expect: From Admissions to
First Session

Confidential Consult → Clinical Assessment → Personalized Plan

Call our 24/7 admissions line or send a message. We’ll ask about symptoms, safety needs, and your goals, then schedule a comprehensive assessment. Your clinician will recommend Day Treatment, Structured Outpatient Program & Standard Outpatient based on functioning, risk, and availability, and will explain why.

Insurance Verification & Cost Transparency

Grand Rising Behavioral Health is out-of-network for insurance. Many clients with PPO plans use out-of-network benefits; others choose private pay. Our team will verify benefits, estimate costs and deductible implications, and provide documentation to help with reimbursement.

Next step: Use our Verify Your Insurance form for clear estimates before you start.

Telehealth Options for Massachusetts Residents

When clinically appropriate, secure telehealth sessions are available to Massachusetts residents. We’ll confirm eligibility, technology needs, and whether your specific program (e.g., Structured Outpatient Program ) can be offered virtually or in a hybrid format.

How We Measure Progress (Without Overpromising)

Goals you set with your clinician

We prioritize goals that matter to you, returning to class, driving on the highway, presenting at work, attending social events, or scheduling needed medical care.

Symptom and Functioning Check-Ins

Short check-ins during treatment help track changes in worry, panic frequency, avoidance, and daily functioning. Data isn’t the whole story; your lived experience guides adjustments.

Your Relapse-Prevention Plan

Before discharge or step-down, you’ll leave with a written plan: maintenance skills, exposure ladders, early-warning signs, and what to do if anxiety flares again. We can coordinate with outpatient providers to keep care connected.

FAQs Anxiety Treatment & Programs in Massachusetts

What’s the difference between Day Treatment & Structured Outpatient Program, and weekly therapy for anxiety?

Day Treatment is a weekday, full-day program for acute symptoms and major life disruption. Structured Outpatient Program meets multiple times per week (day or evening tracks) for moderate symptoms or when weekly therapy isn’t improving symptoms. Outpatient therapy is weekly/biweekly work for milder symptoms or maintenance after step-down.

Which therapies do you use for GAD, panic, and social anxiety?

We primarily use CBT and exposure/ERP, with DBT skills for emotion regulation and medication management when appropriate. Plans are individualized and adjusted as your functioning improves.

Do I need a referral? How soon can I start?

You can contact our Admissions team directly to get started. Start dates depend on clinical fit and current availability; our team will outline the earliest options during your assessment and won’t overpromise timelines.

Do you accept my insurance? What does out-of-network mean?

Many plans offer  coverage for Day Treatment/Structured Outpatient Programs, especially PPO plans with out-of-network benefits. Coverage, copays, and deductibles vary by plan. We’ll verify your benefits and walk you through expected costs before you begin. Private pay options are also available if your insurance does not provide coverage.

Is telehealth available if I live in Massachusetts?

Telehealth is available for eligible Massachusetts residents when clinically appropriate. We’ll review technology needs and confirm whether your level of care can be delivered virtually or in a hybrid format.
