Substance Use Treatment in Massachusetts
Outpatient addiction care that fits your life — evidence-based, discreet, and built around lasting recovery.
At Grand Rising Behavioral Health, we help adults stop the cycle of alcohol and drug use, manage cravings, and rebuild stable daily routines through an outpatient continuum that fits your week. We treat substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions, in-person in Norwood and via telehealth for eligible Massachusetts residents. If you need medical detox first, we'll help you coordinate it and step you into care when you're stabilized.

Relapse Prevention & Motivational Interviewing
We help you identify triggers, build coping skills, and create a concrete plan to handle high-risk situations. Motivational interviewing meets you where you are and strengthens your own reasons for change — no shame, no lectures.

Skills-Based CBT & DBT
CBT reframes the thoughts that drive use and rebuilds healthy routines. DBT skills (mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness) reduce impulsive reactions and help you sit with cravings without acting on them. Between-session practice turns these into daily habits.

Medication Management
For some people, medication reduces cravings and supports recovery. Our prescribers evaluate fit, explain options in plain language, and coordinate medication-assisted treatment so they support — not replace therapy.

Trauma-Informed, Dual-Diagnosis Care
Substance use and trauma, depression, or anxiety often travel together. We treat them in the same plan rather than sending you to two places.
Levels of Care That Fit Your Week
You shouldn't have to choose between work, family, and getting better. Our outpatient continuum lets you step in where you need support and step down as recovery stabilizes.
Partial Hospitalizaiton Program (PHP)
Our most structured outpatient level. PHP blends group therapy, individual sessions, and psychiatric services into a full daily schedule — built for adults who need daily rhythm to stabilize after detox, residential, or a relapse.
Program components
Group and individual therapy woven into every day
Psychiatric services delivered inside the program
CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care
In-person at our Norwood location or via telehealth
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Programming for adults transitioning toward greater independence while still needing consistent clinical support — where most clients spend the longest stretch of treatment, stepping down from PHP or up from weekly therapy that isn't enough alone.
Program components
Group and individual work at a lower daily intensity
Same psychiatric services and modalities as PHP
Designed to fit alongside part-time work or phased return
In-person or via telehealth
Outpatient Program (OP)
A short-term step-down phase that reinforces the skills you built and hands off to your long-term community provider and recovery supports. It isn't an entry point; admission goes through PHP or IOP first.
Program components
Short, time-limited transition phase
Reinforces coping and regulation skills
Supports handoff to a community outpatient provider
Available to clients who've completed a structured program with us
Telehealth from Our Substance Use Treatment Programs in Massachusetts
Eligible Massachusetts residents can attend our outpatient programming by secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth — the same expert team, the same evidence-based care, without the travel. Telehealth is optional for ongoing therapy, relapse prevention, and continuing care; we'll tell you honestly when in-person is the better fit.
